Looking to take a short mid-year getaway in August, to avoid the June crowd? Here are 5 places that would be perfect for the month!

1. Trips For August – Bali

The weather forecast for Bali in August expects lots of warmth and hardly any rain, making it the perfect spot for soaking up the sunshine. Adventurers will love the variety of water-sports available on the island, from surfing in Nusa Lembongan to diving off the cliffs at Suluban Beach (also known as Blue Point Beach).

There are plenty of cultural and historical attractions as well. Take a trip to Tanah Lot Temple, a unique offshore temple that is one of Bali’s most famed landmarks, with restaurants, shops and beautiful sunset backdrops around the area.

2. Trips For August – Ko Samui

Less rainfall in the lower Gulf islands in August makes Ko Samui a great holiday spot to visit, while a trip to other Thai cities like Chang Mai will leave you with rain and soggy shoes– not that there’s anything wrong with exploring during rainy weather, but we’d prefer to opt for the sandy beaches instead.

Head to Chaweng, Ko Samui’s biggest town, for beachside stays and a variety of nightlife entertainment options. The Green Mango strip is the hippest, with everything from pubs to dance bars. This party area is a stark contrast to the peaceful beaches in the area.

3. Trips For August – Tioman Island

For something a little closer to home, take a trip to Tioman Island, situated in Malaysia’s East Coast, where clear skies and sunshine are to be expected for the month of August. Apart from soaking in the sunshine along the island’s sandy beaches, take a dive into the waters too– it is home to large coral reefs, making it a great place to go snorkelling.

Another natural attraction, head to the Asah Waterfall, known as one of the most breathtaking waterfalls on the island. The waterfall is within the village of Mukut, where local delicacies await.

4. Trips For August – Kuala Lumpur

Alternatively, how about heading to the city instead? Kuala Lumpur is a good place to go in August, whether you’re looking to explore the city, suss out local delicacies along the streets or do some shopping at Bukit Bintang.

The city will be experiencing drier weather in August, making it a good time for you to explore some of its attractions too. Notably, dine at Atmosphere 360, a sky-high restaurant located in the KL Tower (the 6th tallest in the world), and head up the Petronas Towers, Malaysia’s iconic skyscrapers standing at 88 floors tall.

5. Trips For August – Melbourne

If you feel like travelling a little further to experience winter, which will certainly provide some respite from the heat and humidity in Singapore, book a flight to Melbourne. With graffiti-filled streets and hipster cafes that serve up some of the best coffee, the city’s cobblestone alleys are a popular attraction.

You can also take a hot air balloon flight to enjoy the city from above, have a romantic dinner cruise with a four-course meal and drinks as you enjoy the night views along the Yarra River.
