Singapore’s National Day fireworks are something very special. They are planned ahead, rehearsed even, several times, and everything always runs so smoothly and with such a perfection that only Singapore can achieve. Here are five rooftop places to watch the Singapore National Day firework extravaganza that have amazing views.

1. Me@OUE

We love Me@OUE rooftop bar and restaurant because they have some of the most amazing views of the Marina with a full 180 degree view of the Gardens by the Bay in the distance, the Marina Bay Financial Center and the Marina Bay Sands. Also, its outdoor location, with comfy sofas and a loungy feel, is a great place for after work drinks on any evening. On National Day there are always special events and fabulous views. A great spot. But book early to make sure you get a place.

2. Ce La Vi

The former Ku De Ta, Ce La Vi is a good place to watch the fireworks but it is very close to the action so you might lack the perspective and see them while looking down. A great place for a drink though, so make sure to book a table facing the right side.

3. Marina Barrage

Here you will not get any servers providing you drinks or food, but you will have some of the best views, if quite far from the fireworks themselves. The perspective from the Barrage is that of the whole city, so the overall framing is good, although the fireworks will be behind the Singapore Flyer so slightly obstructed. And because you are in a public space you can bring your tripod and snap away with clear shots. Bring your own food and drinks and a blanket to sit on the grass and come early to snap up a good spot.

4. Tanjong Rhu Park

At Tanjong Rhu Park you are viewing the fireworks from the back but the view is very nice overall. As this is a popular place to watch them you will have to come early and bring all your food and drinks to celebrate. There is always a good atmosphere here.

5. Merlion

Very packed and popular with visitors on any given day, the Merlion is a prime spot on National Day for the fireworks and the area is packed with people coming very early to snag the best spot. If you want to come here you will most likely have to guard the space for a few hours but it might be worth it for the best photos and view against the marina and the skyline. If you prefer to sit and enjoy some casual food with your fireworks, make a booking at Overeasy.

6. Private dinner at the Singapore Flyer

If you want something extra special and unique, you can book the S$1,800++ private dinner at the Singapore Flyer just for two. There is a more affordable option where you are sharing the capsule with someone else, but the private version is just for you. The flight is at either 7,30pm or 8,30pm so book the 7,30pm one to catch the fireworks with your dessert.

7. Helix Bridge

Another favourite location right under the fireworks for the closest feeling of the action. The Helix Bridge is right at the end of the Marina Bay Shoppes and is always full so expect it to be extra packed. There are a few balconies from where you can be even closer to the fireworks. Good thing, when it all ends, you are just there and can pop by one of the restaurants for dinner.

8. The Lawn at Marina

9. 1-Altitude

The high rooftop bar in the CBD will have fantastic views and the highest location but will also mean a bit of looking down. Make sure to book one of the tables close to the edge. Or opt for their restaurant one level below. The food is not amazing but the views through the window will satisfy your firework needs.

10. Customs House

There are a lot of outlets at the Customs House which will have great views, among them Kinki and Super Loco, but we bet they will be booked out quite in advance so call them up asap. Particularly Super Loco would have great views but we fear the crowds will fill the public area in front of the table and not allow for the best views, or make you feel a bit crammed and surrounded. Once they dissipate, you can continue enjoying the Marina Bay views.

11. A friend’s house

You know where the very best views are? From the comfort of your home. Or, failing that, you know that friend who has a condo at The Sail or even better, at Marina Bay residences (I used to live there, 14th floor, full marina view)? That person is the one you need to befriend for the ultimate National Day firework views. No issues with the tripod, affordable drinks, your favorite food and no crowds.

12. Smoke & Mirrors

This is one of our favorite spots in town. Located at the top of the National gallery, Smoke & Mirrors is a great bar serving sophisticated cocktails and nibbles with unobstructed views of the Marina end to end.
