While there aren’t many legal nude beaches in Asia, here are a few places around Asia where you can bare it all during your getaway! Did you know that there used to be a nudist beach in Singapore where Gardens at the Bay now lies? Maybe it will return someday. Who knows!

1. Asian Nudist Getaway – Bali au Naturel Beach Resort, Bali

If you’re a Singapore naturist, you’ll be happy to know that you have a few options for holidays nearby. There are no nude beaches in Singapore, but how about wondering around your Bali resort in your birthday suit? Well, that’s exactly the kind of service that nudist getaway and gay-friendly resort, Balu au Naturel offers. Unfortunatley, you will not be able to visit the public beach without your clothes, but the freedom to bare it all within the resort must be pretty refreshing.

Staying at a decently priced resort in Bali (rates start from SG$70) that has an outstanding 4.5* rating on Tripadvisor is already a bonus. So imagine the addition of letting it all hang loose. There’s probably no better way to really relax while on holiday.

You can find more photos and book your next stay through Agoda.

Laki Uma Villa in Denpasar is another place to stay if you’re wanting to get nude in Bali.

While you can’t organise skinny dipping Singapore, there is another resort where you won’t be wearing any clothes from check in to check out. This option is the Chan Resort in Pattaya, Thailand. Boasting a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, this truly naturist getaway has large, spacious rooms with comfy beds, air-conditioning and balconies overlooking the large swimming pool.

The hotel is the vision of Danish naturist hospitality entrepreneur Gregers Moller, who pioneered nude resorts in Thailand. Mollers and his wife are among the founding members of the Naturist Association Thailand, which was set up in 2007 and currently has over 3,000 members.

While nudity is illegal on the beaches of Thailand, Moller says that there’s a private island about one hour away from Pattaya that is owned by the Thai navy. Every month, the Naturist Association members visit the beach on weekends to play games, have fun and take a picnic in the nude.

3. Asian Nudist Getaway – Barefeet Naturist Resort, Bangkok, Thailand

If you’re looking for a nudist resort in Asia, you’ll most likely veer toward Thailand. Thanks to Mollers mentioned in the previous paragraph, along with other local pro-nudists, Thailand is the gateway for Asians seeking a refuge close to home. Another one of Mollers’ resorts is Barefeet Naturist Resort in Bangkok.

This time, there is also a luxurious spa, sauna and restaurant to accompany your getaway.  The resort is family friendly, which means that naturist families in Asia can spend their vacation totally free from clothing. There are even pool activities that are sure to keep your kids occupied while you relax.

Singapore nudists rejoice! The last of the naturist resorts in Thailand (for now) is Lemon Tree and is located in the center of south Phuket. So you can combine your visit to Thailand’s most popular beach destination with a little bit extra vitamin D for your skin. You can also explore nature or take an exhilarating road trip to on your holiday by the Andaman Sea.

Lemon Tree has a perfect 5* rating on TripAdvisor and is an oasis away from the loud rowdy crowds of downtown Phuket. The villas are massive and the beach is only 10 minutes away. While this is not a Vietnam nudist beach, it is a lesser known tourist spot that sees plenty of nudists heading in for a refreshing dip after trekking through the humid jungle. Being hidden in the jungle of the Krong Ana area of the Dak Lak Province, Vietnam, at the Gia Long Waterfall you’ll have relative privacy while you’re skinny dipping too.

In fact there are several other smaller locations where taking a dip in the nude is permitted. Read this article for other top picks like Phu Quoc Island, Son Tra peninsula or Bach Ma Mountain for some nude beaches in Vietnam.

7. Asian Nudist Getaway – Jimjilbang, South Korea

If you’re looking for a unisex spa treatment, Korea is not the place. Yet it is well known for its extravagant saunas called as jimjilbang. After washing yourself, you’ll take off your garments as you enter the relaxing and invigorating saunas. Some jimjilbang are very bare-bones, while others, like Dragon Hill Spa & Resort in Seoul are lavish, offering a variety of different health options.

At Dragon Hill, you can pick and choose between a traditional charcoal kiln, a pine tree firewood or a red clay pine tree sauna. You can also sweat it off in a Herbal Tonic Bath with ingredients such as ginseng, jasmine and citrous. While men and women bathe separately either in or out doors, you will be able to meet up with your better half afterward where you can watch TV, eat a meal or relax with a book. It’s not uncommon for people to spend an entire night exfoliating in a 24hr Korean jimjilbang, no need for a hotel room!

8. Asian Nudist Getaways – Onsen Baths, Japan

Probably the most obvious destination for a nudist getaway in Asia, head to the onsens of Japan for a relaxing experience with amazing views. There are plenty of natural hot springs all over the country, including the Noboribetsu Onsen nestled within the beautiful scenery of Hokkaido, as well as the Yumoto Onsen, located at the foot of of Mount Nantai, an extinct volcano in Nikko National Park.

While a true kon-yoku (mixed gender) onsen will be difficult to locate, they do exist in much more rural areas. So don’t bet on bathing with your loved one in Japan. There are some onsen like Takaragawa where bathing is mixed, but you will have to wrap yourself in a towel-like bathing garment when outside the water. In the non-coed onsen, much like the Korean jimjilbang, you will be able to meet up with your better half after you bath with members of the same sex.

9. Asian Nudist Getaways – Asian nudist beaches

El Nido Palawan Philippines

El Nido Palawan Philippines

While Asia is still quite conservative with nudity in public places, there are some areas which turn a blind to nudity in public. In the Philippines you will find probably some of the only openly nude beaches in Asia. Visit China Sea Island in Boayan Island, Fridays Island in El Nido, Palawan, or Freedom Beach in Boracay. In Hong Kong you have the option of weekend boat trips in the remote parts of Sai Kung Country Park in the New Territories, unofficial nudist beaches on Lantau Island, Tai Long Wan beach on the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula is reportedly used by naturists and Kau Ling Chung beach (狗嶺涌營地) which is east of Fan Lau beach and west of the obelisk is heard to be used by naturists.

Apparently, there are public nudist areas in South Korea that allow nude forest bathing. Jangheung County in South Jeolla Province is another reported option and there is the tentative first nudist beach to be opened in Jeju Province at Jungmun Beach and Hamdeok Beach.

Do not be fooled by the hedonism in Goa, Karnataka in India. While people do go there to bare it all, it is illegal and you will be fined if caught. It is not an official nude beach in Asia.

If you prefer to keep your clothes on, here are some great staycation ideas for a relaxing weekend off.
