There is the saying ‘boy will be boys’, and I say ‘let them be’. Going on a short trip with your bros, you tend to search for fun, thrill, and excitement. What better way to do so than by going on adventurous excursions? We put together a list of 5 adventurous getaway ideas for guys you can undertake.

Quad riding in Siem Reap

A short and inexpensive 2-hour flight will take you and your bros to the tranquil Siam Reap. While there are plenty of things to do, such as visiting the magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat or taking a ride on a quad bikes through nature which should get your blood pumping and your clothes dirty. No matter rain or shine, the quad tours will take you over bumpy and muddy paths, through splashy puddles, and along scenic rice fields.

Quad Adventure operators offer everything from a short idyllic sunset ride along the paddy fields (if that is what you are looking for) to an 8-hour full day tour with lunch and drinks. Although a driving licence is an advantage, even inexperienced drivers will receive proper instructions until they feel comfortable on the bike so you don’t end up spending the time at the hospital! It’s a perfect way to explore the temples and the Cambodian countryside with your bros.

White Water Rafting in Borneo

Get soaked wet and paddle down the rapids of the Padra River in the north of Borneo, close to Kota Kinabalu. The river’s strong rapids can be tamed by you and your buddies all in one boat. A guided rafting experience costs only $80 per person, including hotel pick-up, rafting equipment, lunch, insurance, and a certified guide.

When heading to Kota Kinabalu, you might also want to stay a night or two on the very scenic Pulau Gaya. Air Asia, amongst other airline companies, flies directly to Kota Kinabalu from Singapore, which should make your brocation fairly simple to arrange.

Kayaking in Ha Long Bay

If rafting is a little too wild for you and the boys check out Vietnam’s stunning Ha Long Bay on a kayaking trip. Getting to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi isn’t very difficult, by minibus, train, or seaplane, and is rewarded with views of the most stunning lime stone formations in the region. Besides kayaking, you can also go on excursions with a cruise boat or venture off to explore the nearby caves.

While you’re at it, don’t forget this beautiful country is home to four UNESCO world heritage sites. Here’s a 4 day itinerary in Vietnam to add and you’re good to go!

Surfing in Perth

If you and the boys are more the urban types, you will probably enjoy a short trip down to Perth. Only a four-hour flight, Perth offers not only a chill and relaxed city, but also some good waves. Regardless of your surfing experience, paddling out on your board and catching waves is a sure way to a laugh. The city’s beach stretches over 10km along the coast, offering plenty of space for everybody.

After a long day at the beach and a rich brunch at one of the numerous cafes along the coast, you can finish off the evenings with visits to the local craft beer microbreweries, such as the Feral Brewery and The Monk Brewery and Kitchen. Or head down to Margaret River for a wine-filled weekend.

For the terrible at coordinating, consider wakeboarding in Batam. No flights means no risk of leaving behind the ones who are unable to get their stuff together. This day trip does not require much planning and can be arranged last minute with Batam Cable Ski, just book before 6pm on the evening prior.
