Animal lovers, add these to your list of cafes to visit! No matter if you have a pet at home or not, you’ll love these hotspots for fluffy munchkins. If you are visiting Singapore and could not travel with your cat, this is as close to a dose of fluffiness you can get.

1. Neko No Niwa

Known as the first cat cafe in Singapore, Neko No Niwa is located at Boat Quay, in one of the quaint shophouses by the Singapore River. Keep an eye out for the sign, because this cafe is pretty easy to miss if you aren’t looking out for it!

Head up the staircase leading to this cafe, and snap a picture with the cat doodles on the wall. There’s a cat section and a lawn where you can spend some time with the kitties. And if the cats are asleep, head to the food section of the cafe to have some drinks and dessert (you aren’t allowed to disturb the fluffballs when they are sleeping!).

Address: 54A Boat Quay Level 2, 049843

Mon to Fri 11am-10pm

Sat & Sun 10am-10pm

2. The Company of Cats (Permanently Closed)

We love how The Company of Cats strives to raise awareness of cat welfare in Singapore. All the cats in  this cafe are rescues, which means that they were either abandoned or strays. Cats at this cafe include Coco, who loves head rubs; Sasha, an elegant kitty; Mags, who loves TLC; Elliot, who chases anything that moves; Skippy, the resident foodie; and more cute furballs.

If you’re a little hungry, you can also order some Japanese Sesame Noodles or Sausages & Mash, along with a cup of warm coffee with cat-inspired latte art. They also have toasties and tortilla chips, as well as desserts like the tangy key lime jar cheesecake.

Address: 6B Mosque Street, 059486

Opening hours:

Tues to Thurs 10am-7pm

Fri to Sun 11am-10pm

3. The Cat Cafe

Another cafe that takes in ex-strays or abandoned kitties, The Cat Cafe has given these cats creative names like Fruitcake and Tuxedo, and given them a cosy new home. Plus, the cafe puts up cats for adoption from time to time, in a bid to do their part to alleviate the cat overpopulation problem in Singapore.

Aiming to make The Cat Cafe “The Purrfect Coffee Place”, the team behind this cafe also makes a mean cup of joe, as well as hot chocolate for the non-caffeine drinkers. Complemented with their sweet cakes, a day at The Cat Cafe makes for the purrfect weekend afternoon.

Address: 241B Victoria Street, 188030

Opening hours:

Tues to Sun 10am-10pm

Mon 3-10pm

4. We are the Furballs

Singapore doesn’t have quite as many dog petting cafes (bummer!), so we’re glad to find We are the Furballs, which is the first and probably the only one here. The cafe is located at Bugis, and houses insanely adorable pooches that we could play with all day.

There are food and drinks on the menu (just don’t bring them into the doggie play area), along with claw vending machines for you to try your luck scoring some dog treats. While you’re cuddling and playing with the dogs, watch out for Duchess and Bui Bui– they’re chewers so look out for your shoelaces!

Address: #07-07, Bugis+, 201 Victoria Street, Bugis+, 188067

Opening hours:

Mon to Thurs 1-10pm

Fri & Sat 12.30-10.30pm

5. Meomi

Meomi Cat Cafe Singapore

Right at the start of hipster Haji Lane sits a little cat cafe that you are sure to fall in love with from the moment you step in. The cats are of mixed varieties, so you’ll find breeds that you may have never seen before in Singapore. Snuggle with the fluffiest Main Coon, cuddle up with the chubby Scottish Fold or pet the magnificent Main Coon. While the space is smaller than the other cafes, you’ll find it working to your advantage as you have a better change of petting the fluffballs.

The staff are also very passionate about their feline friends and will tell you all about cat care 101, as well as the history of each little guy and gal. Try to visit during feeding time or ask the staff if you can watch the adorable feline manicure. Be sure to get a waffle or the most delicious chocolate cake while you’re there.

Address: 668 North Bridge Rd, Singapore 188801

Opening hours:

The ambience at the cafe is bright and airy, with well-loved dishes like the Riders Burger with angus beef, the classic Eggs Benedict, Salted Caramel Brioche and more.
