Where exactly is Holland Village?

The most lively spot of this European-influenced area is set around the rows of shophouses along Lorong Mambong and Lorong Liput. Also considered as part of the hood, businesses are springing in expansion of Holland Road and Holland Avenue like Chip Bee Gardens and Holland Close’s HDB estate. With a preceding reputation of Western expatriate district, it now serves as a popular dining and drinking spot for Singaporeans as well.

History of Holland Village

Holland Village used to cater mainly to the needs of foreigners – middle and upper-class expatriate families in particular. As the name suggests, the Dutch was the first community to make its presence felt in the area, although members of the British Army also used to stay in the houses at Chip Bee Gardens.

The strong European influence has clearly left a mark on this once upscale neighbourhood where time seems to pass a little slower.
