Despite its fame for being the world’s most expensive city, Singapore offers many exciting activities that are completely free. Pub quizzes, movie screenings, and rooftops with a view are just some of the options.
This monastery is widely unknown – even among Singaporeans. However, already the magnificent building itself is worth the trip to Bishan. As in Buddhism giving is more important than receiving, the monastery offers visitors of all religions a free vegetarian meal.
Singapore’s most famous jazz band, the Steve McQueens, and others frequently play free concerts right next to the bay alongside Esplanade. Besides the spectacular outdoor venue, there are, occasionally, concerts at a smaller venues in the entrance hall of the Theatres. Check schedules to not miss out.

Prince of Wales
Gather a couple of friends or join another team at the free pub quizzes across town. Quizmaster Collin hosts fun and entertaining quizzes four times a week – Molly Malone’s (Mon), Prince of Wales Boat Quay (Tues), Prince of Wales Little India (Wed), and Muddy Murphy’s (Thurs). If you are the lucky winner, you will get a bucket of beer and eternal glory.

ION Orchard
While most people only reference Marina Bay Sands and 1-Altitude when it comes to rooftops with a view, there are many more options to explore city views. Many of Singapore’s shopping centres, such as Orchard Central and ION Orchard, offer a very different perspective of the city – all for free.
Changi Airport Bus Tour
Rated as the best airport in the world, Changi even offers a free bus tour through the city when you are in transit for more than six hours. The airport staff will help you with immigration and transport arrangements.
The lights go on every single day. The light show at Marina Bay, including music and fire, ignites twice a day at 8pm and 9pm. It can be seen from anywhere around the bay, but is best observed at the Shoppes, as you will be closer to the fire show. The second show is underneath the Supertrees in the Gardens by the Bay.
