Being close to the equator, our sunrise and sunset timings are fairly constant- rising at 7am and setting at 7pm. The margin shifts only for an approximated 15 minutes throughout the year. Both are magical to observe on our island, here are a few wonderful spots to gaze from.

Sunrises

East Coast Park

East Coast Park

Singapore’s longest park offers one of the best views of a direct sunrise. From any point in the park, the sun can be seen beautifully rising over the horizon. However, I recommend to head out to one of the two jetties in the park to get an even more exclusive view. East Coast Park is also great for camping!

Pandan Reservoir

Considering its location in the west of Singapore, the Pandan Reservoir might seem like an unusual spot to see the sunrise. However, sitting at the western side of the reservoir one can witness the spectacle as a beautiful reflection in the vast body of water.

Marina Barrage

Marina Barrage

Both Marina Barrage and the bridge spanning across to Marina East are ideal spots to witness the first beams of sun touching upon the island. If you are an early bird, you can include this spot to your morning run.

Merlion Park

Merlion Park

Rising between MBS and the Singapore Flyer, the sunrise at Marina Bay attracts photography enthusiasts every morning. Definitely worth the effort. Learn more about the Merlion here!

Punggol Promenade

Located at the northern tip of the island, the surrounding green at the Punggol Promenade offers a tranquil setting to see the sun rise beyond Pulau Ubin. The spacious park development in Punggol makes it even more attractive and enjoyable.

Sunsets

LeVel 33

Level 33 – by Level 33

While many tourists head up to CÉ LA VI on top on Marina Bay Sands, I prefer to witness the change of light at Level 33. Located in the Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1, the terrace of the bar offers extensive views of Marina Bay. Enjoy a beer while the entire city fills with evening light.

Henderson Waves

Perhaps Singapore’s most iconic bridge, the 36m-elevation over Henderson Road is the perfect place to catch the light as it settles in the distance. The many benches and spots on the curved structure make it perfect for a picnic.

Tanjong Rhu

Just across the bridge from the SpotsHub, Tanjong Rhu is a vastly unknown sunset spot. Where the Geylang River and the Kallang River meet, one can see splendid reflections of the sun as it sets beyond Lavender and Jalan Besar.

West Coast Park

Spanning 50 hectares of land, West Coast Park is one of the largest green areas in the west of Singapore. Facing Jurong Island with its industrial plants and factories, the change of light creates an interesting silhouette. In my opinion, West Coast Park is a hidden treasure.

Chinese Gardens

The Chinese Gardens may be far from the city, but a visit will not only offers architectural sights, such as the twin pagodas, but also with lavish sunset pictures.
