[VIDEO] Aerial Yoga with Simply Yoga

Singapore’s love for Yoga is no secret, but Simply Yoga offer the same benefits of a regular class with an aerial twist.

In 2013, Annie founded Simply Yoga, a studio offering specialised Yoga and Aerial Arts. Their space is bright and intimate, made special by colourful silks hanging from beams in the ceiling. Annie conducted an early morning class with gentle encouragement, easing mind and body into using the silk for support. Although soft, the silk is incredibly strong and held my weight with ease. It is initially terrifying to let go of any stable foundation, but it provides an opportunity to trust in your own physical ability.

Mentally, I learned when to control and when to release, when to push and when to stop. During Shavasana, the final resting pose, I felt stretched but wholly rested.

Aerial Yoga offers a variety of benefits with no stress on your joints. Working on your core is a given, and defying gravity in your first lesson is thoroughly satisfying. Put aside any fear of falling, Annie has your back, and legs and shoulders!
